Edited by: Jigger Senseneiss on 11/04/2009 14:15:06 I'm also a RPer and new to the game. I've found a RP Corp that I would eventually like to join, so what I did was find their RP channel. Now I can interact with them just fine, although I really haven't done much interacting because it's hard for me to engage in conversation while doing missions (i.e. getting use to the game mechanics). So I mainly just read the RP conversations, learning the various members and their RP identity.
I found out that this RP Corp is deeply-rooted with Minmater liberation. So I studied the Chronicles (the EVE lore), specific to the Minmater history, and I'm doing missions for Minmater agents to boost my faction rep with them. Also, I'm jotting down a few notes on peoples' names, tribe names that come up, so that I have something to talk about in-character with the Corp that I hope to join.
I just figured that I wanted to be at least a month to two months into the game, grinding out the lower missions so that everything comes easy to me. Then I'd take a more active role in RP interaction. Also, I'm specializing myself to be a miner with decent EM warefare abilities so that I can be a good assist (giving energy to teammates, scrambling enemies, etc.).
I say all this to let you know that I'm sort of in the same boat, so my philosophy of handling it is to be a bit patient. Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion, you must set yourself on fire. |

Hehehe, that is true. I didn't know much about the lore of the game when I chose my character - Caldari Achura. But I think I can RP a Minmater sympathizer, due to the fact that the Achura seems to be the least likely to get all caught up with Caldari politics. That's my opinion though. *shrugs*
